PENTA Accepting Applications for its 2017 Leadership Scholarship

WESTBOROUGH_ PENTA Communications Inc., an integrated full-service and digital marketing, advertising, web development, social media, and public relations firm, headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, has announced it is accepting applications for its twelfth annual Leadership Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a Westborough High School (WHS) college-bound senior who exemplifies leadership, excels academically, volunteers his/her time to support the community, and has been a proven leader in varied extracurricular activities throughout his/her academic career.

“Each year, we are excited to review scholarship applications from so many bright college-bound students who have achieved leadership in their high school years, and aspire to pursue higher education to further their education,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. “We are always impressed with the quality of candidates and what they have accomplished.”

Many civic-minded and high-achieving young adults have received the scholarship in years past. UMASS- Amherst student and WHS graduate Samantha Mack earned the scholarship in 2016.

“I am beyond grateful to have received the PENTA Leadership Scholarship,” said Mack. “I had the privilege of working with Deborah Penta in the PENTA Marketing Mentorship Scholar Program™.”

The PENTA Leadership Scholarship has been awarded to students seeking careers in medicine, teaching, communications, health administration, bioscience, and others. Students have been accepted to recognized institutions such as Columbia University, George Washington University, Syracuse University, Stonehill College, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Villanova, Northeastern University, and Johns Hopkins University.

For nearly three decades, PENTA has been a devoted supporter of the development of future leaders and is committed to promoting a healthy economy by providing them with impactful and holistic learning opportunities. In 2014, it launched The PENTA Marketing Mentorship Scholar Program,™ which was designed in collaboration with school administrators to offer select Westborough High School seniors a high-level business course focused on experiencing and exploring numerous management facets of real-world companies.

The deadline for WHS senior applicants is April 3, 2017.

Candidates must submit all of the following criteria for consideration::

  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty members or administrators who can detail the applicant’s academic and leadership qualities at WHS;
  • Detailed information regarding participation on any teams, committees, or place(s) of employment;
  • Current résumé or transcript indicating academic standing and all activities and leadership;
  • A listing of any charitable work the applicant has accomplished during his or her high school years; and
  • A 200-word essay explaining why the applicant feels he or she should receive the schola

To be considered, the PENTA Scholarship Committee must receive the candidate’s application postmarked before 5 P.M. on April 3, 2017.
