PENTA Legacy Fund Grant Supports non-profit organization, In Your Shoes

WESTBOROUGH_ The PENTA Legacy Fund made a recent gift to support a small human services non-profit, In Your Shoes. In Your Shoes, founded in 2008, is dedicated to providing emergency assistance to ease hardships and financial burdens for residents of Westborough. The organization’s unwavering commitment to helping those in need caught the attention of the integrated marketing firm, PENTA Communications, Inc.

In Your Shoes hosts fundraisers and events to generate funding to support its community outreach, and partners with local organizations within the Town of Westborough, including churches and schools, to distribute emergency funds when they are needed the most. The charity actively encourages those who are experiencing difficult financial situations to apply for a grant through its online application, available at www.inyourshoeswestborough.com/.

Since its inception, In Your Shoes has helped countless families and high school students in need, and has raised money to aid Westborough Youth & Family Services and the Westborough Food Pantry. Terry Gavin, Co-founder and President, reports that fundraisers like the Polar Plunge raise approximately $11,000 annually. The funds are divided between Westborough Youth & Family Services, the Westborough Food Pantry, and the Westborough Police and Fire Departments. Grant money donated to In Your Shoes helps underserved residents pay electric bills, car insurance, rent, and to purchase gas for their vehicles.

In Your Shoes hosts a free Stone Soup Supper during town meetings, and recently held a clothing drive, collecting all sizes of apparel from infant to adult. The organization’s Casino Night has raised money to benefit Central Massachusetts and Westborough veterans, and in the past, the non-profit has designed baskets for retired members of the armed forces who live throughout Westborough.

“Supporting local organizations that help individuals and families in need, especially during the holiday season, is important to us,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. “In Your Shoes is special in that it focuses on the microcosm of the Town of Westborough, and has a true pulse on the community.”

The PENTA Legacy Fund provided a $250 grant that will aid In Your Shoes, as the organization continues helping families in need during the holiday season and all year long.

“We are honored to receive this generous check from PENTA Marketing through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation,” said Gavin.

The PENTA Legacy Fund, which is a Donor Advised Fund of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, was founded in 2016 by Deborah Penta.
