PENTA prepares for holiday season as Toys for Tots drop-off location
WESTBOROUGH _ PENTA Communications, Inc., located at 208 Turnpike Road (Route 9) in Westborough, recently announced that the marketing firm will be a new drop-off location for the Toys for Tots Program for the 2014 holiday season.
Toys for Tots, an annual program administered by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, distributes new and unwrapped toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season. Founded in 1947 by Marine Reservist Major Bill Hendricks, it has distributed more than 469 million toys to over 216 million children since the program’s inception.
Christmas is obviously an expensive and stressful time, even for those who are financially stable. Despite the distribution of many promo codes and coupons during this time, which you can get more info on here, some don’t have the budget to celebrate Christmas at all. This emphasizes Toys for Tots’ importance.
The mission of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, the gift of hope. Toys for Tots plays an active role in the development of children by bringing all members of local communities together in a common cause during the holidays.
“We are looking forward to using our new location as a Toys for Tots drop-off location for the community, and were very pleased to learn that all donations of toys made within Worcester County are distributed to children in our local communities,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. “It’s important for people to know that their gift will make a difference in the lives of children who live right here in Central Massachusetts and that the more we can do together as a community, the more of a positive impact we can make for many children in need.”
Members of the community can deliver new, unwrapped toys in the collection box at PENTA Communications, Inc. Toys for Tots coordinators will pick up the toys and bring them to a central warehouse where they will be sorted by age and gender. At Christmas time, with the assistance of local social service agencies, church groups, and other local agencies, the toys will be distributed to children in need. The local community and the generosity of people who donate the toys ultimately makes the campaign successful.
“There is no better way to express gratitude in life than to give back to those in need,” said Penta. “This campaign is among many of the wonderful ways in which we can all pay it forward during the holidays.”
Those wishing to make a donation to the program are asked to choose an age appropriate unwrapped toy and bring it to PENTA Communications, Inc., 208 Turnpike Road, Westborough during normal business hours, beginning on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014. The toy collection box will be made available at PENTA until Friday, December 5, 2014. Massachusetts’ Toys for Tots Program supports children between the ages of 1 through 16 and accepts all new, unwrapped toys. The only items not accepted are realistic-looking toy weapons and gifts containing food.
For over a decade Toys for Tots has been a leading philanthropic organization and, in 2012, despite a difficult economy, distributed nearly 16.8 million toys to more than 7 million children.
