PENTA Marketing Mentor Scholars will attend panel discussion with state and local elected officials

WESTBOROUGH_ On March 13, the PENTA Marketing Mentor Scholars™ will participate in a legislative panel discussion beginning at 11:30am as part of the six-month business preparatory course with the integrated marketing firm PENTA Communications, Inc. The segment entitled “The Role Government Plays in Business” will be held in the Marketing Innovation and Customer Insights Center at the historic PENTA Building, located at 208 Turnpike Rd. in Westborough.

PENTA’s Founder and CEO Deborah Penta will facilitate the panel discussion. Panel participants will include State Senator Jamie Eldridge, Massachusetts State Representative Carolyn Dykema, Massachusetts State Representative Danielle Gregoire, Vice Chairman of the Westborough Board of Selectman, Leigh Emery, and Westborough Police Chief Jeffrey Lourie, who will share their experiences collaborating and interacting with the business community.

“As we come to the end of the 2017/2018 academic year for our Program, we are delighted to enlighten our students with the mentorship from our elected delegation, and Westborough’s new police chief to broaden their understanding of the role that local, regional, and national government plays in fostering economic development, safety, and legislation pertaining to the business community,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc.

“Connecting students with networks of support and resources provides them with a fuller education experience, and I’m happy that the PENTA mentorship program gives local students an opportunity to connect with a wide range of local businesses,” State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) said. “I look forward to speaking with the PENTA Scholars next week about the important role that smart government policies play in creating a sustainable economy, and on the value of community engagement by residents and local businesses.”

When fluid lines of communication are established between police departments, municipal officials, and business communities, resources can be pooled to increase crime prevention, improve school systems and educational opportunities, strengthen cities and towns through joint outreach, and improve and grow local economies.

“I’m thrilled when asked to participate in events that work towards mentoring our future leaders,” said Chief Lourie

“As a Westborough Selectman, I am very pleased to participate in the PENTA Marketing Mentorship Scholars Program, offering our bright high school students with an opportunity to learn how local government works with the business community. The “Role that Government Plays in Business” segment of this program is relevant in helping the students have a

well-rounded overview of this facet of the business relationship should they have opportunities in which to participate later on in their professional careers,” said Vice Chairman of the Westborough Board of Selectman, Leigh Emery.

“It is a privilege to have the opportunity each year to speak with the thoughtful and talented young scholars in the PENTA mentorship program,” said Rep. Carolyn Dykema. “I’m grateful to Deborah Penta for her ongoing commitment to supporting Westborough’s future leaders and entrepreneurs.”

State officials play an essential role in fostering relationships with the local business community and region while bringing constituent concerns to the forefront. Business leaders often facilitate communication with elected officials to relay political ideas and debate key strategies to increase the economic stability of the region.

Representative Gregoire mirrored the police chief’s sentiment regarding involvement in the program. “I am honored to once again be participating in the PENTA Mentor Scholars program,” said Gregoire.  “It is always a pleasure to speak to and engage with our future leaders.”

After the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for the scholars to ask questions and address concerns they have about the future landscape of business and government in Massachusetts. Following the discussion, the PENTA Marketing Mentor Scholar Program™ partner and lunch sponsor, Uno Pizzeria & Grill, will deliver lunch for the college-bound seniors.
