PENTA Legacy Fund $1K Donation Supports Displaced Families Recovering from Hurricane Harvey
WESTBOROUGH, MA_ In response to the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, the PENTA Legacy Fund has made a $1,000 charitable donation to the American Red Cross, through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, to support individuals and families displaced from this catastrophe.
Established by Founder Deborah Penta in 2016, the PENTA Legacy Fund’s mission is in alignment with the rescue and recovery efforts of the American Red Cross, amidst the widespread damage caused by this record-breaking disaster.
It has been reported that Hurricane Harvey, which hit the Gulf Coast of Texas on August 25th, was the first major hurricane to make landfall on the United States since 2005. Within a short span of only four days, rainfall totaling over 40 inches devastated low-lying areas. It slowly made its way across the state, amassing destruction with monumental storm surge, torrential rainfall, historically catastrophic flooding, and countless tornadoes that spurred through August 30th. With 61.27 inches in its peak accumulation, Hurricane Harvey was the wettest tropical cyclone in American history. This natural disaster destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes and caused 71 fatalities. Throughout the state of Texas alone, more than 300,000 people were left without electricity, and billions of dollars of property damage wreaked havoc throughout the state.
“We hope our modest contribution to the efforts of rebuilding lives for so many families will help make a difference when added to the tremendous outpouring of support from around the world,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc., of Westborough.
In a recent press release, American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern stated, “We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support across the country that has enabled us to help survivors of Hurricane Harvey with safe shelter, meals, care and comfort—and our work is just beginning.”
