PENTA Communications, Inc. Joins YWCA In Honoring Katharine F. Erskine Award Recipients

WORCESTER, MA _ On May 3, PENTA Communications, Inc. (PENTA) joined the YWCA of Central Massachusetts as a Presenting Sponsor of the 2016 Tribute to Women Katharine F. Erskine Award Luncheon, to honor five local women who exemplify leadership and a deep commitment to their communities. The event was held at Mechanics Hall at 321 Main Street.

Founder and CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc., Deborah Penta, who was Chair of the Katherine F. Erskine Tribute to Women Committee, delivered the opening remarks at the event and expressed gratitude and a humble understanding of the commitment the honorees make to enact change throughout the region.  Penta received the 2013 YWCA Katharine F. Erskine Award in Business and Law. This prestigious award has been given each year since 1995, in honor of Katharine Forbes Erskine, who spent over 80 years of her life championing for women and girls, and upholding the mission of the YWCA. “It was truly a pleasure to Chair this event again this year,” said Penta. “There are so many women in our region who stand out for making such a positive impact to improve and strengthen communities through their tireless efforts within their various professional spheres. The YWCA Katherine Forbes Erskine Award recipients highlight those individuals who are improving the world for so many others in alignment with the mission of the YWCA.”

The 2016 honorees included Tina Zlody, Program and Event Coordinator of the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Clark University and Director and Co-Founder of stART on the Street, for her commitment to arts and culture, and Aivi Nguyen, a business and employment litigation trial lawyer at Bowditch & Dewey, for her dedication to business and law.

Executive Director of the Southeast Asian Coalition (SEAC) of Central Massachusetts, Anh Vu Sawyer, was honored for her work with the community, social service and government. Dr. Stephanie Chalupka, Associate Dean and Professor of Nursing at Worcester State University, was celebrated for her commitment to education, and Dr. Susan George, a physician practicing internal medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital, was honored for her dedication to the health, science, and technology sector.
